No Zero Days

Bookshelf with quote "No Zero Days"

I recently came across a poem that totally resonated with me. It’s a beautiful articulation of a personal philosophy that I have carried along my reinvention journey; No Zero Days.

This is the reminder that sits on my bookshelf, along with other reminders of my badassery.

No Zero Days means that when I am working towards a goal or a vision for my life, I must do something every day that brings me closer to it. Some days feel really inspired, and I take big, bold actions, and other days when it feels hard, or I am tired or afraid, I might take only one teeny tiny step. It’s a process for moving towards what I want for my life while honouring exactly where I am at.

In difficult times, you move forward in small steps.
Do what you have to do, but little by little.
Don't think about the future, or what may happen tomorrow.
Wash the dishes.
Remove the dust.
Write a letter.
Make a soup.
You see?
You are advancing step by step.
Take a step and stop.
Rest a little.
Praise yourself.
Take another step.
Then another.
You won't notice, but your steps will grow more and more.
And the time will come when you can think about the future without crying.
- Elena Mikhalkova

Tiny steps lead to big things, so wherever you are on your journey today, right now, don’t stop. You’ve got this, tiny step by tiny step.
